Happy New Month and welcome to June.
Before you get too comfortable, there is one important deadline you need to keep front of mind this month.
Business Tax Filing Deadline: June 30, 2026 — 26 days away
You only have 26 days to file your business tax return.
If your corporation's fiscal year ended December 31, 2025, your business tax return is due June 30, 2026. Here is what you need to know before that deadline arrives.
Need help getting started?
Two Deadlines. Not One.
Most business owners only know about one. Here is the full picture.
Payment deadline, March 31, 2026: Already passed. If you still owe tax, pay now. CRA is charging daily interest on any outstanding balance.
Filing deadline, June 30, 2026: 26 days away. This is the deadline to submit your business tax return.
Three Things Every Incorporated Business Owner Must Know
You must file every year, no exceptions. Zero revenue, a quiet year, a loss. None of it exempts you. If you are incorporated, you file. Full stop.
File electronically. CRA now requires most corporations to e-file. Filing on paper when e-filing is required triggers a $1,000 penalty on top of anything else you owe.
Missing the deadline is expensive. CRA charges 5% of the balance owing immediately, then 1% per month for up to 12 months, plus daily compound interest. If you have been penalised for late filing before, those rates double.
What to Gather Right Now
Get these to your accountant before it is too late:
Corporate bank statements for 2025
All revenue records and invoices
All expense receipts
Payroll records, including your own salary
Any CRA notices received during the year

Twenty-six days sounds like a lot. It is not. Start today.
